What YWiSE Means To Me

"To me YWiSE is a very special place. When I moved here, I thought I would never make a single friend. But all of that changed when I became a part of YWiSE. Since I’ve joined, I’ve made 15 friends!!! Friends that I can count on, have fun with, or who understand why I love God so much. In each section there is something that I like.
Being the MC in Snack & Chat is a great opportunity to work on my speaking skills. Being the Chef is a great way to share with others. I like the Discussion Cards cause I learn more about my YWiSE sisters.
I like to make stuff with my hands. That is why I like Crafts & Stitches so much.
In Talents and Games I like that we are able to use our talents to praise God without being made fun of.
But what I like most about YWiSE is that I can learn more about God."

"One of the reasons why I like YWiSE is because it is a place where young women can come and be encouraged in their personal walk with God. The world we live in is always throwing negativity at us and seems to always leave us discouraged. I think being in a group that builds you up and leaves you with confidence to trust in God alone is just what every godly woman needs and YWiSE is just that kind of place.
I also like YWiSE because having fellowship with Christian girls seeking the same relationship with God that I seek is very important when it comes to reaching my purspose and destiny in life. YWiSE encourages me to take the next step in my walk with God. God make me to reflect Him and to be myself, but the world is always trying to tell me who I should be. But YWiSE is the kind of place where being myself is important.
I also like YWiSE because it keeps me fruitful and it keeps me a part apart of the group, with activities such as the cooking, singing, Bible study and Bible study homework, games and calling the other girls to show care and concern for them. YWiSE is something I have never seen before and I think everything it promotes is exactly what I and other godly girls need.
This year is my first year and I hope that I will make many friends and take what I learn in the Bible studies and put to use in my life. I hope this year will be a year to remember in my growing walk with God."

"What I Think About YWiSE. I think it’s cool, fun and the best club I have ever been in.
I also think it really encourages you to do good things. How to find the right friends and how to be polite. Everything has it’s “something cool” to it. Like the sewing it’s cool because you can learn new stitches or improve the others. And you don’t have to sew, you can also do things like crochet, knit, etc.
Snack & Chat is fun because you can make things for the class then share them and how you made them. And you can talk with the other girls at your table and make new friends.
Round table is fun to and I like it because you can say what you think and not have to worry what bad things others will say about you. And I sorda like being the Secretary, it’s challenging,but a little fun, and once I get familiar with it, then I will probably like it more. And I like that the older girls are nice and not like “get out of here”. I like that you can make friends with them, and that is why I like YWiSE."

"This is about what I think about YWiSE. I think that YWiSE is a support group. Like if you need something or have something on your heart that you can tell the group, and not to be worried about being judged. I like how there isn’t any clicks and that you can feel like you're special and you're important.
I love that we are learning how to sew and crochet and stuff. I think that I was always scared of people and new things, but now I have a bit more confidence.
The fellowships that I’m building are going to help me in the future.
I think that I’m learning how to enjoy myself. And I haven’t been enjoying anything lately. So, I feel I can open up a little more and that makes me really happy. Life has been easier and funner, and of course funny.

" Reflecting on this past year of YWiSE, I find that I have changed more than any other year. New things which hadn’t occurred to me as so very important now capture my thoughts and hold me accountable, while old subjects have become more real and important than ever before.
One very significant change is the awareness of early character building. I pray nearly every day for God to help me become a better person, inside and out. Such qualities as truthfulness, cheeriness, inner modesty, and obedience have become important to me, and I try to perfect these qualities in my own life. I have learned to guard my mind against the lies and false suggestions that flow in from the world. The inner struggle endured by every human being may become tense, but I have learned that building strong character now is the best thing I can do, next to asking help of God, to win victories.
In addition to inner character, I have learned the needed caution and consciousness every girl needs facing the outside world. Not only should one be on guard against mental bombardments of untruths, a girl must watch her actions, must gain a Christian reputation, proclaiming modesty and purity. Everything I do will come to some consequence or other, and I will have to stand before God and give an account of my life someday. I now know that, during this crazy roller coaster called adolescence, I must be especially careful in my conduct and begin Godly habits that will protect me the rest of my life.
YWiSE has also brought me closer to God. I have become such that what I say, do, think, listen to, and watch, I try to base upon God and his principles for my life. I want to please him in my dress and behavior, and whenever anyone asks me why I do things differently, I simply say something like, “It’s not right, and I want to please God.”
Overall, I think this year has been one of learning, maturing, and discovering little tidbits, that, though perhaps small, mean mountains to me and my faith. I thank God for this opportunity to grow!"

“First of all, I do not like YWiSE (Young Women in Search of Excellence); I love YWiSE. Do you want to know why? I love YWiSE because it is a very good Christian group for girls. It teaches girls how to become good leaders, how to become young ladies and how to grow to be mature Christians. I am so happy that we have a wonderful founder and leader and also wonderful coaches.
If it was not for YWiSE, this year I would be bored like other years. But now that I am active with YWiSE there is no time to be bored. There are also other wonderful things about YWiSE. I like my YWiSE sisters a lot because they are really nice and Christian-like. They are also helpful, caring and very loving. But as we all know Mrs. Barrett did not make this group, but God made it through Mrs. Barrett. I hope that my composition has encouraged you to register your daughter into YWiSE. Hopefully, through God, maybe YWiSE can become a national group, and maybe even an international group for girls one day. Hopefully, the YWiSE name will be as common as the name Girl Scouts.”

"I realized that it was quite different talking about what to do with peer pressure and facing it. I was (and still am) involved in several Christian activities; but I knew that even some of the problems I had came from these places. I needed somewhere to be with other girls, experiencing the same things as me, directed in their outlook by godly women, where I would be encouraged and led down a righteous path.
I was bountifully blessed to become a charter member of YWiSE. I feel very privileged and honored to have this opportunity. I have found a place where I feel joyful and encouraged to live according to the Bible. As our discussion has been guided both by two great books –the Bible and our devotion book Beautiful Girlhood- and great Coaches, I have found out many truths, which otherwise undiscovered, might have proved nuggets of gold still underneath a layer of soft rock, only waiting to be mined.
Not only have I been helped in my physical and mental dispositions through YWiSE, I have also been shown more than I might have imagined about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The overall encouragement through this wonderfully founded club has really become one of my highlights of each month. I only wish that two weeks didn’t seem so very long to wait to see my YWiSE sisters again.
I feel more confident, now that I have a place to learn about situations and what I should do with them, and I have been pressed to grow up as a lady for God, to develop good traits while I am still young, and to follow God’s plan for my life!

"To me YWiSE is a place for learning lots of new, interesting things. Not only things about the bible though.
I've also learned things about the girls in YWiSE. We're not all the same, we're different and like different things. But we all have one thing in common. We're all friends searching for wisdom and knowledge about God.
YWiSE is also a place for fun. That's a word every one should know! All of the games, singing sewing
and snack time. Those are my favorite things.
YWiSE is the thing I look forward to until the next meeting. YWiSE is something that every girl should be involved in. And though I'm one of the newest members, I feel welcome and at home with the other girls. They're all so nice and welcoming and when I'm feeling sad, I know that I can always call one of my fellow YWiSE sisters who will
always be there for me.
I love YWiSE because learning, friends and fun are all here for me every time I go."
